Chinese Testing International, the organization that manages the official HSK exams, has announced that the HSK 3.0 exam will officially be held worldwide on December 13, 2026.

The HSK (汉语水平考试 [hànyǔ shuǐpíng kǎoshì]) is the official Chinese proficiency exam for non-native learners. This latest HSK 3.0 version has overhauled the levels, vocabulary, characters, grammar and some of the skills assessed in the exam.

The December 13 exam will mark the practical move over to the new format. From January 2027, HSK 3.0 will also be the standard version of the exam to be taken internationally.

The purpose of the upcoming pilot test on September 20 is for test centers and candidates to familiarize themselves with the new system. The December 13 exam, on the other hand, is presented as the official worldwide launch of HSK 3.0.
